I am so pleased with the treatment and compassion recieved from Dr. Matin. I am so afraid (mildly stated) due to a past horrible experience. I had gone a long time without care of my teeth. I was missing a side front tooth and had black cavities showing. Dr. Matin did a deep cleaning of my gums. She fixed the cavaties. I have an amazing, beautiful bridge. I never felt any shots. She was so gentle and sweet. I love her office.

I am able to smile again with confidence. I no longer cover my mouth with my hand.I was so embarrased to go in and they made me feel like family.

I highly reccomend this office.

About Hygienist: She did a great job on my deep cleaning!

I came to DR Matin due to the stellar reviews on this site, however, I WISH I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS DENTAL OFFICE!!

In summer 2008 had my very front tooth break out. The tooth had to be fully extracted. It was suggested by DR Matin that due to the location of the tooth (highly visible) that I consider a dental implant.

After the long process of the implant (performed by DR Blizzard), DR Matin worked with her "Lab" to create my new implant veneer...AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL...First, the tooth came out 2 shades darker than my normal teeth. Second, when I finally got my new veneer it FELL OFF on the way home. Third, after LESS THAN 10 HOURS the veneer got a DRASTIC CHIP. I had to wait again for ANOTHER veneer. Fourth, during a very uncomfortable procedure where they removed the existing chipped veneer they nicked the side of my other front tooth (and tried to say they didn't do it). Fifth, LESS THAN A WEEK LATER (while flossing) the veneer fell off AGAIN! I DID NOT go back to have them do another bad job. So I had it reattached by a local dentist. No more than 6 months later...guess what...VENEER HAS CHIPPED AGAIN!

About Hygienist: PLEASE NOTE: I am a totally normal person who (after spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on my teeth) DOES NOT use my teeth for un-teeth like things. I don't bite open packages or try to open twisty caps with them. I don't even bite into apples or bagels...I cut them up into little pieces so I don't have to "stress out" my front teeth. I take very good care of my teeth, I brush 2x a day and even floss every evening.

Absolutely the best dentist and staff on the west coast!!!!!

I went to Dr. Matin's office for the first time about 6 years ago and was extremely impessed. I then moved out of state and had another dentist. He was good but nothing like Dr. Matin. She, and her staff, are fantastic!!!! I could go on and on with the accolades but suffice it to say I look forward to dentist visits. I have even decidied that should I move out of state again I will make the trip here for all my dental needs!!!!

Like many of us, I put off visiting a dentist for far too long; the bad early-life and Army experience thing. Then I broke a tooth. I discovered Dr. Matin via her on-line reviews, screwed up my courage and made an appointment. Four crowns, two bridges, a new partial, and several filling replacements later I am thrilled with the results and a bit ashamed of my previous cowardice. Yes there are still needles, drills, keeping your mouth open for long periods of time and conversing or answering questions with grunts. But Dr. Matins touch is gentle and as pain conscious as it gets. Her passion for achieving just the right result and smile comes through in everything she says and does. As for the surroundings, how can you beat a vibrating reclining chair, a warm cushion around your neck, and your iPod if you like. This is certainly not your parents dental office. Yet even more important from my perspective, Dr. Matin and her highly skilled and professional staff communicate in numerous ways that you are a valued and unique individual not just another patient. When Dr. Matin called me at home to see how I was doing the day after my first extensive bit of dentistry, I was so surprised I hardly knew what to say. Now when asked who is your Dentist, I am happy to say: Dr. Laura Matin.

My sister initially referred me five years ago. Now I actually look forward to visiting the dentist. The entire staff is fantastic - and fun! My son and husband (who has always hated the dentist) switched to Dr. Matin and couldn't be happier. My entire family would recommend Dr. Matin in a heartbeat!

I have been a patient of Dr. Matin's for over a decade and would not consider having anyone else as my dentist. Not only Dr. Matin, but all the staff are always extremely friendly and courteous. Her office has massaging chairs, television, and headsets lending to the overall relaxed atmosphere of dental visits, and all my exams, x-rays, onlays, and crowns have all been without pain or stress. I hold her and her staff in the highest regards and would recommend her to anyone wishing to receive the best in professional dental care.

this dentist failed to diagnose a tooth that needed a root canal, despite repeated visits to her office complaining of pain. she continued to suggest it was related to a filling she had done, did not consider if the source was another tooth, which it turned out to be. the upshot: emergency root canal surgery to remove a dead nerve and abscess, clean out infection that had grown to an alarming state, requiring a long stint on multiple antibiotics and pain medications, much pain and time off work.

Our family have been patients of Dr. Matin's for over ten years. In fact, my husband (who hadn't been to a dentist in years) goes in regularly because of her and her staff's sensitivity to his long-seated anxiety over dentists.

I'm also a health-care worker and was recently involved in an exchange project to bring two nurses from Tanzania, East Africa, to Portland, Oregon, for training. I was simply chatting with Dr. Matin and her staff about the exchange project during a check-up. To my surprise (although I shouldn't have been) Dr. Matin offered to see these two young woman at her cost and take care of their teeth before they went back to East Africa.

Dr. Matin and her staff worked around our schedules, treated these women like regular customers and performed several thousand dollars worth of services with no thought of compensation. These women could have never received the services in their country that Dr. Matin graciously gave them. I'm very proud, not to mention grateful, to call Dr. Matin our dentist.

The best in Portland, as far as I'm concerned. I've been seeing her for 10+ years and the experience has always been wonderful: "painless," massaging dental chairs, overhead TV (if desired), music, and fresh chocolate cookies when you leave. What can be better?

Dr. Matin is an excellent dentist. Her sincere commitment and dedication to her patients sets her apart from any other dentist I've been. I've never felt pain. She is gentle, kind, and respectful. She also gives encouragement in a positive way. I personally hate going to the dentist, but I've never felt that way about my visits to Dr. Matin's office. She is EXCELLENT! I highly recommend her services to anyone.

I've never enjoyed going to the dentist so much! I broke a tooth that had a large filling and she was able to put in a Onlay repair instead of a crown. Looks good and was very pleased with the all the people there!

Dr Matin is the best. I fly from Sacramento to be in her chair. I trust her completely to do the best for me. She has done several bridges, root canals and she has also taken care of an implant involving 3 molars. It was a total success. I feel relieved to be able to smile again and not worry about having to put in a partial. Thanks Dr. Laura

My rating has to do more with her office staff. I have been a patient of Dr. Matin's for 15 years even before she had her own practice. On Saturday I called to alert them to the fact that I had to change my appointment which was to take place on Tuesday. I was treated very rudely by Dr. Matin's receptionist. Apparantely 15 years of patronage means nothing to them. The receptionist indicated that I would have to pay $50 for changing my appointment without proper notice. Then she indicated that I didn't have to pay, but I will pay anyway. It's not the money folks, it's the treatment after all these years.

This doctor is pretty good; I go for my cleaning and regular dental check-up to her. She gives advice on what needs to be done for good dental health; but sometimes she could come across as strongly recommending something without letting us understand the need for getting the procedure done. I feel that choice should be provided to the patient on what needs to be done, instead of forcing the person with something.

Otherwise her staff is pretty efficient and make you feel comfortable. Her office might be considered a bit too feminine, but thats not too bad.

Dr. Matin is SO FANTASTIC! My family has been seeing her for over 4 years and have referred every person that inquires about needing a dentist. I can't say enough good things about her and her whole staff. Very personable and professional. They cater to any and all. If you have fears of going to the dentist - they'll soon melt away in Dr. Matin's office!

Dental work is normally unpleasant to us all.

Not with Dr. Matin, she treats you like family.

Her staff is professionally trained and very pleasant.

How many Dentist offer a massage chair, heated neck rest and even having your hands softened in heated gloves while you are having your teeth worked on.

Wow! I saw my dentist on this site and had to l let you know about this office. It's the most relaxing office, dentist or otherwise, I have ever been to. They play relaxing music, have fresh baked cookies and offer starbucks coffee. If you have a sore back, you might want to stop by for a filling just so you can lie back on the massage pads while they do thier magic! The staff members are skilled, remember your name and treat you like you are someone special. Call them and you won't be sorry!

Have you ever imagined what the perfect dentist would be like? What the surroundings would feel like? Have you ever thought how nice it would be if your dentist was gentle and caring? Maybe being treated with respect for your fears or anxiety of pain? Look no further! From the moment you walk in the door, it is obvious this is a total class act. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable, the staff is friendly and contentious, the procedures are explained in detail, and the follow-up is like no other dentist I have ever experienced. Dr. Matin and her staff of professionals are top notch. I must admit, THIS is what I thought a dentist office should be. Now, I look forward to seeing my dentist instead of dreading it. Dr. Laura Matin has been my dentist for many years. She is very gental and caring with me and my family. My care is always followed up with a call from the Doctor to see how you are doing after any treatment. I used to be very afraid of the pain of dentistry and with Dr. Matin I am always very relaxed and comfortable. I don't know how she can give a shot that does not hurt. The dental chairs are really comfortable and you can even have a chair massage or watch T.V or listen to music while you are having teeth fixed or having a cleaning! The office is like being in a beautiful home. I love the smell of the fresh baked cookies and the warmth of the fireplace when it is chilly out. Dr. Matin's staff are all caring and freindly. The front desk person has always made taking care of the fee's and insurance easy and informed. The fee's have always been very reasonable and comparable to other dentist in the area. I actually look forward to going to the Dentist with this office! If you want to go to a dentist office that really does care about their customers, go see Dr. Laura Matin!!!!

This was the most impressive dental office I have ever been in. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, eagle to help answer any questions and make me as comfortable as I could be (I had a previous history of being nervous at the dentist). Dr. Matin is always very gentle and compassionate. I have had extensive work done by her and never a bad experience. I would recommend her to anyone, especially those who have had any negative experiences. I can honestly say I will never put off going to the dentist again.
